The Journey of Hermana Stark
9/12 - 3/14

English Class

English class was pretty great this week. We did that game where you write the name of someone on a paper and put it on their forehead then walk around and have to ask questions to figure out who you are. We did that and it was cute watching everyone try to speak english to figure it out. Antonio was Batman. All I could think about was Community. Am I a bat? Yes. I am batman. Or am I? YES.I am batman.

THE SUPER-COMP TRIO - Hnas Jarvis, Stark & Kunz

CHANGES

April 22 “GIRL!!!!! I’m going to have an hija!!  I really don’t know much about the thing other than it has fingernails. Guys, I am so excited. I’m staying in Cadiz and training a little rubia blonde baby girl from the MTC. :)”

April 29 “So this week I got a call from President and he said that everyone got their visas EXCEPT for my hija :( So, I don’t know where she is. It’s the worst feeling as a mother. She could be anywhere, scared, crying. . “

May 6 “My hija didn’t get her visa and so I’ve been working in a trio with Hermana Jarvis and Hermana Kunz. (Jarvis and Stark, get it??? Jarvis is Iron Man’s robot I know sick, huh!?”

Adios to Mission Madre Hermana Roderick

PERFECT PLANNING… just like the training video… maybe not so perfect

We had a Pancarta this week! We made a big board that says LA VERDAD FUE RESTAURADA EN 1820! With information about mormones and the book or mormon. Then we took it with us with a table full of Books of Mormon and Folletos [PAMPHLETS] and we stood on a street corner like the missionaries in the good ol days used to do. And let people come to us. We got the idea because at the conference this week President talked about in 1Nephi 16 when they are all traveing in the wilderness and the bow breaks and they can´t get food and everyone murmers but Nephi figures something else out and in verse 23 he takes it to his dad, Where do I go to find food? So, we have been having a hard time finding people to teach here right. Well, we decided to take it to our Father in Heaven to help us know where to go. I CAN´T TELL YOU HOW EXCITED I WAS!!!  We had fun with the Pancarta. Then Saturday we watched conference from 2-4 then the next sesión was at 6. So with those two hours we took the other missionaries who were there and a lot of the youth from the Ward out to test out the ol Pancarta. We took it to the playa and handed out folletos and tarjetas and Libro de Mormones. GOOD TIMES!!

Family History, I am doing it. Making Mom proud.

BOOM! … .BOOM! … .

BOOM! … . BOOM!… . Buddum dum dum….. BOOM! BOOM! Buddum dum dum.” I woke up this morning at midnight to that sound. It sounded like fireworks were going off in our room. I jumped out of bed, flipped on the light and my companion was gone. I ran through the house feeling a light cold breeze as though the door or window was left open… I´m a good story teller huh, I bet you just can´t wait to hear the end of this story… . I found her in the study room leaning out the window looking down at the street. So I look down with her and see the KKK carrying a huge statue of Christ down our street with a band. Semana Santa!! Creepiest thing I´ve ever seen and felt. And it´s just the first day. Seriously it´s weird, yesterday we walked to church and the Catholic church is right across from our apartment so we walked past everyone and their palms for Palm Sunday. And it just felt so dirty and dark. Then to wake up to that… I´ve been thinking a lot about it actually. Easter is next week and it is such a beautiful thing. It´s something we should celebrate with happy hearts I mean Christ lives and because of it we will be resurrected just as he was and we get to live with our Father in Heaven again! It´s a beautiful thing ya know! But it´s just so sad that during this time, Satan wants to have his part in it. I mean, they carry the crosses through the streets and these statues of Christ crying and bleeding and it´s all about the suffering and the sadness. It´s like the one time a year that these people actually think of their Savior, and it´s just guilt and sadness. They carry Christ through the street and it just brings guilt. It is sad. But at least it only lasts one week. Then all these people go back to their lives and forget about religion until next year :)

MONKEYING AROUND IN GIBRALTAR

So this week let´s see… we had a Cosecha on Saturday. This is something that missionaries do when their área is really hard and they want help from other missionaries. We worked all week printing out maps of Cadiz, color cordinating them, making lists of every member in our Ward and grouping them into lists of less actives, actives, stuff like that so that when people came they could take a packet with an área, go visit those members and contact around Cadiz all day. It was a lot of preparation. The whole Zone was invited along with any members who wanted to come. We were pretty excited about it. Half our zone didn´t show up. The missionaries who came tried really hard though and by the end of the day they all came waddling back all wet cause it was raining. They brought us 8 futures. Meaning, 8 people in the whole day let the missionaries talk to them on the Street and take their information so we could contact them later and hopefully teach them. This isn´t the best number… but it´s at least something! After everyone came back they just complained, wow Hermanas this área… no one will talk to us! None of the members were home! It was weird! It was hilarious, they were jumping back on the train to go back to their áreas just like good luck PEACE OUT! :)
